Solomon NORMAN Born (in England) on Sunday Feb 8th at 11th hour 30 at night in the year 1761 latitude 5433 (they did this back in those times). Three miles due east of Stockton before the tees in the Parish of Lorinthrofin in Cleveland, Yorkshire. Baptized by the Rev James GREENSIDE - Who Baptized Capt. James COOK [1728-1779] in the Parish of Martin. [Cook died in Hawaii in a fight with Hawaiians during his third exploratory voyage in the Pacific in 1779. – Wikipedia]

The surname NORMAN may have referred to actual Norman origins in the Breton region of France, or it may just as easily have been a patronymic based on an ancestor whose first name was Norman.]
